One of the greatest impediments to the successful use of alarms is that the parent/caregiver has to sleep in the patients's room, to ensure that the patient wakes up and that clean-up and other procedures are followed. Many parents find this to be the most objectionable aspect of training a child, and have wished that they could sleep in their own room and be woken up only when the child has an accident. Three factors keep the child from waking alone and carrying out hygienic and medical procedures:

(1) The body's natural signals fail to tell the child his or her bladder is full.

(2) They are sleeping too deeply to awaken to a sound, light or vibration.

(3) The child is too sleepy and lacks the motivation to get up and do the needful, falling back to sleep without concern.

Caregivers may place an alarm anywhere in the patient's house where there is a standard electric socket. There are no distance limitations or limits to the number of alarms used inside the house. Caregivers may also add or substitute any 120V AC alarm device of their choice at each alarm location (louder sound, bright light, etc.).

Another important advantage is that the sensor is wireless, so that there are no wires to entangle the patient, cause discomfort, or break. The child (or patient) can move around inside the house, or limited distances outside the house, and still activate the alarms.

The sensor is small, light, and comfortable, and remains in place while the patient sleeps. The magnetic cap makes attaching and removing the sensor easy and convenient and does not damage clothing.

Yet another advantage is that you do not need any special expendable or disposable supplies for the DryBuddy system. Nor do you have to cut, sew, tape or take any special actions with clothing. No more special panties, sheets, liners, pads, sewing or taping parts, etc. This can provide significant savings in cost and hassle for you over the lifetime of your use of the product. The DryBuddy wetness sensor can be easily attached to any absorbent clothing (for example, made of cotton) which your child uses.

After a period of time, a conditioning linkage takes place - instead of a full bladder leading to a few drips leading to a caregiver's alarm, who then wakes the child to go to the bathroom and clean up, the full bladder leads the child directly to the bathroom.
